Curriculum
Western International University has established itself as one of the best
undergraduate business schools. WIU has established itself as one of the best
undergraduate business schools because of its wide variety of business degree
programs. WIU offers undergraduate programs in Accounting, Behavioral Science,
Business, Information Technology, International Business, and Management with
minors in Finance, Marketing, and e-Commerce.
In addition to distinguishing itself as one of the best undergraduate business
schools, WIU also offers MBAs in Finance, Information Technology, Management,
and International Business, as well as Master of Science degrees in Information
Systems Engineering and Information Technology.
The Master of Public Administration and the Bachelor of Science in
Administration of Justice degrees are open to city, state, local and federal
government employees; a minimum enrollment is required.
At WIU, housing one of the best graduate and best undergraduate business
schools, the curriculum is designed to be as flexible as possible. However,
content is often sequential in nature, requiring that some information be
learned before others can be learned. To facilitate student success, courses
are listed in the catalog in a sequence that best supports learning. For
example, in the bachelors programs the general education courses provide
students with a breadth of knowledge that gives them an overall understanding
of global/human issues and the basic skills to support the learning process.
The Common Body of Knowledge courses build upon the general education
foundation, and provide support for the degree core courses, and then the major
courses. It is strongly recommended that courses be taken as listed to achieve
the greatest degree of understanding and success throughout the degree program.
And, because courses are scheduled in rotations, taking them in order will
prevent students from missing courses that may not be offered again in the near
future.
As with the bachelor degrees, the master degrees also have a "best case"
sequence. Each degree has a set of undergraduate prerequisite courses that
provide foundational material, followed by the core courses that build on the
prerequisites and lay the foundation for the major courses. The undergraduate
prerequisites may be transferred in or taken at WIU.
